Some attempts at poetry, euphuism and lyricism. I usually try to be true to the old form (the kind of poetry I grew up with) with most of my work but do occasionally write in the new age styles.

I've lately been trying for a very simple meter but hope to gravitate towards doing some good pieces in the iambic pentameter.

The fiend of survival

Like a pristine sapphire quarry in the clarity of dawn

Before the industrious griffin of avaricious labor descends

No enchanted realm this, no dearth of homely settled dust

Yet there glistens the azure certitude of the prospect and pain

Mutely sardonic with intermittent cascades of effervesce and serene

As if wrestling with esoteric cynicism of even the penultimate relief

Smile never reaching her eyes, hunger never quenching her heart

She takes my hand as we go jointly to another death of innocence
