Some attempts at poetry, euphuism and lyricism. I usually try to be true to the old form (the kind of poetry I grew up with) with most of my work but do occasionally write in the new age styles.
I've lately been trying for a very simple meter but hope to gravitate towards doing some good pieces in the iambic pentameter.

The lonely path
I've stood by since you were born
new life prevails within my grace.
Dark or fair none will I scorn
nor wait upon a time or place.
Of meeting death are all assured
yet few do so with equanimity.
You rue that life is so unsure
then reprobate my certainty.
The flare of pain or angst's storm
are all stains on souls that I erase.
Yet few, ever, see me with warmth
and all will shrink from my embrace.
I squarely trudge my lonely trail
and tend to all placed in my care.
For every trust that life will fail.
Can lay to rest 'cause I am there.
